We’re pleased to welcome Matt Sapsford to the Naturally Compliant team as Associate Director.
Matt is an experienced environmental professional with a strong track record of supporting large-scale infrastructure projects to meet their environmental and sustainability objectives. He is a Chartered Environmentalist and a full member of ISEP, bringing extensive expertise in green infrastructure project management and the mitigation of development impacts on natural environments, habitats, and species.
Matt began his career in arboriculture, working initially as an arborist before progressing into consultancy and achieving Chartered Arboriculturist status with the Institute of Chartered Foresters. During this time, he moved into the civil engineering and infrastructure sectors, working across design, procurement, delivery, and compliance. His experience includes nationally significant infrastructure projects such as HS2 and National Highways’ strategic road network, where he supported the delivery of environmental mitigation across complex project lifecycles.
A strong advocate of collaborative delivery, Matt understands the value of a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to environmental management. He has extensive experience working with stakeholders at all levels – from individual enquiries and community engagement through to liaison with elected representatives and regulatory bodies – and is committed to building productive, trusted relationships that support positive outcomes.
Matt was drawn to Naturally Compliant for its values, culture, and way of working. He shares:

Looking ahead, Matt is enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute at a strategic level within the business. He explains:

Alongside his technical and leadership experience, Matt is deeply committed to supporting people. He is a trained Mental Health First Aider and has supported colleagues through personal challenges, recognising the importance of accommodating responsibilities beyond work to benefit both individuals and teams.
And finally, an interesting fact – last year Matt challenged the sun to set during midsummer in northern Norway by staying up all night. It didn’t.
